Bismark edited the telegram and made it more insulting . this telegram upset the french which was the main cause of the war.if it wasn't because of bismarks "editing" then there could have been a solution to the problems without having to enter war. Bismark knew that the french would take a step like that, he was aware of what was going to happen. He wanted the war
